As a teacher in the Worcester Public Schools you will be expected to provide rigorous instruction to the diverse population of students in your classroom. You will be expected to align your teaching to the district and state curriculum; to regularly assess students for learning comprehension and to modify your teaching to ensure that students are learning; to provide a classroom that is conducive to the learning needs of all students, especially students who are learning English and students with disabilities.

Accountability Objective

This position is accountable for delivering a high quality instructional experience through creativity, resourcefulness, and sound judgment consistent with the curriculum frameworks, standards and the rules and regulations of the Worcester Public Schools.

Principal Responsibilities

Remaining up to date regarding curriculum content.

Effective planning and assessment of curriculum and instruction.

Mentoring students’ understanding of the curriculum effectively and adjusting instruction, materials, or assessments, when appropriate.

Managing classroom environment effectively.

Providing effective instruction, which includes making learning goals clear to the students, using appropriate instructional and questioning techniques.

Using innovative approaches, and instructional strategies, including the effective use of technologies, to increase student learning and confidence to learn.

Promoting high standards and expectations for student achievement.

Promoting equity and appreciation of diversity to ensure equitable opportunities for student learning, including implementing specific strategies for students with special needs, with 504 plans and/or second language learners.

Performing other job-related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Massachusetts DESE License in Elementary 1-6
SEI Endorsement
BA degree

Additional Qualifications

Teaching experience in the content area
Demonstrated experience supporting students with special needs
Ability to speak Albanian, Arabic, Nepali, Portuguese, Spanish, Vietnamese, or an African Language
Experience teaching students who are English language learners
Demonstrated experience with second language acquisition

Work Year: 185 days

Salary: $61,410 to $91,240 per year
