Job Description

Subject: Teacher – English

Reports To: Building Principal

Accountability Objective: These positions are accountable for assuming the responsibility for delivering a high-quality instructional experience through creativity, resourcefulness and sound judgment consistent with the curriculum frameworks, standards and the rules and regulations of the Worcester Public Schools.

Principal Accountabilities
  • Responsible for remaining up to date regarding curriculum content.
  • Responsible for effective planning and assessment of curriculum and instruction.
  • Responsible for mentoring students’ understanding of the curriculum effectively and adjusting instruction, materials, or assessments, when appropriate.
  • Responsible for effective management of classroom environment.
  • Responsible for effective instruction, which includes making learning goals clear to the students, using appropriate instructional and questioning techniques.
  • Responsible for using innovative approaches, and instructional strategies, including the effective use of technologies, to increase student learning and confidence to learn.
  • Responsible for the promotion of high standards and expectations for student achievement.
  • Responsible for the promotion of equity and appreciation of diversity to ensure equitable opportunities for students earning, including implementing specific strategies for students with special needs, with 504 plans and/or second language learners.
  • Responsible for providing equal educational and employment opportunities to all individuals regardless of race, color, gender, age, religion, gender identity, national origin, marital status, sexual orientation, disability, or homelessness.
  • Performance of other job‑related duties as assigned.
  • Required Qualifications
  • DESE Licensure in English 5‑12
  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • SEI Endorsement
  • Preferred Qualifications
  • Demonstrated experience supporting students with special needs
  • Demonstrated experience with second language acquisition
  • Ability to speak Albanian, Arabic, Nepali, Portuguese, Spanish, Vietnamese or an African Language.
  • Work Year: 185 days

    Salary: $61,410 to $91,240 Per Year

    Salary scale shown is based on the candidate holding a Bachelor’s Degree. Potential to increase based on degree level.
