Job DescriptionWe are seeking a highly motivated instructional leader who is committed to collaborating with others to ensure all students experience high-quality teaching and learning while developing the social-emotional skills needed to thrive.
The ideal candidate will have successful experience as an elementary classroom teacher, with a demonstrated record of promoting high levels of student growth and achievement while effectively meeting the needs of a diverse student population. They will intentionally build strong, positive relationships with students, staff, and families and possess a strong understanding of race, equity, and culturally responsive instructional practices.
The successful candidate will be highly organized, reflective, and committed to continuous professional growth. They will be an excellent communicator, both as an active listener and as a presenter of information, and will demonstrate initiative, flexibility, and the ability to effectively prioritize competing responsibilities. A willingness to lead improvement efforts and adapt to evolving school needs is essential.
Collaboration is central to this role. The Instructional Coach will work closely with the Principal, Assistant Principals, Instructional Coach, School Counselors, and other staff as part of the school's leadership team. The coach will play a key leadership role on the Instructional Leadership Team (ILT) and will collaborate with grade-level teams, professional learning communities, and other school-based committees and initiatives to support continuous improvement.
Experience demonstrating the leadership skills, collaborative practices, and instructional coaching competencies described above is strongly preferred.

Description:
The Focused Instructional Coach works full time providing instructional support to teachers across all curricula areas. The coach collaborates with instructional staff, site administrators and leadership teams to promote student achievement by identifying current, research-based instructional and assessment strategies, modeling lessons to classroom teachers, providing constructive feedback and assisting teachers in collecting student achievement data and using the data to modify instruction.
Using student achievement data, the Focused Instructional Coach will identify professional development needs and plan, present, and evaluate on-site staff development activities.
- Implements the philosophy, goals, policies and Compact of the WPS.
- Facilitates the development of a learning community focused on raising expectations and providing rigorous core instruction for every student, every day.
- Provides model lessons for classroom teachers using current scientifically, research-based instructional and assessment strategies.
- Devotes the majority of their time to utilizing the coaching model within the classroom setting.
- Provides constructive feedback on delivery of high quality teaching and learning.
- Assists classroom teachers in collecting, analyzing, and using student achievement data to guide instruction to ensure that all students are college and career ready.
- Provides job embedded professional development focused on organization of the classroom to construct a positive learning climate.
- Schedules teachers for classroom peer/best practices observations.
- Identifies site professional development needs by using student achievement data.
- Plans, schedules, and conducts site professional development aligned with the district and site goals outlined in the School Accountability Plan and connected to solid, rigorous core instruction.
- Analyzes data and prepares data presentations for the principal, staff, and family groups.
- Assists teachers and grade levels in analyzing student achievement data for program improvement and increased student performance.
- Monitors benchmark assessments for use in developing and implementing interventions.
- Attends instructional leadership, department, and district meetings.
- Participates fully in professional development for coaches, professional research and reading, and peer observations.
- Maintains coach activity log.
