Assistant Director of the Clark AI and Pedagogy Lab

The Socr-AI-tic Lab for Collaborative Pedagogy serves as a hub for research, development, and implementation of AI-integrated pedagogical practices. Specifically, the lab is working on educating the Clark community, professors and students alike, about AI literacy and AI application in pedagogy. In addition, in the lab we create, test, and research software for use in higher education classes.

The Assistant Director of the Clark AI and Pedagogy Lab will sometimes assist with and other times take a leadership role on the following:

  • Developing curriculum for and teaching AI literacy classes
  • Supporting faculty in the integration of AI tools for pedagogy through workshops, community of practice, and 1:1 support
  • Developing AI tools for professors and students, especially Microsoft copilot agents
  • Developing AI applications for professors and students (using vibe coding)
  • Conducting research into the efficacy of AI applications for education
  • Conducting research into the societal impacts of AI
  • Attending and presenting at conferences
  • Forming and participating in coalitions about AI in education
  • Marketing Clark's AI tools
  • Developing and implementing a program for summer camps for high school/college students
  • Supervising interns
  • Planning and running AI in Education Conferences

Additional Details:
Work will be done at Clark University's Beck House. Hours will be 9-5, Monday through Friday, with some events or conferences outside of those hours.

Requirements:
The ideal candidate will have experience in AI and teaching, and should have obtained a higher degree (PhD preferred) in a related field, such as Education, Psychology, Computer Science, Digital Media, or Environmental Studies. Candidates must be comfortable using AI and integrating it into their workflows, have teaching experience, be excited about the opportunity AI presents for adapting pedagogy, have excellent executive functioning skills, be resourceful and self-motivated, enjoy working with and teaching students, and have a high level of comfort learning to use new programs.

Experience in some of the following areas is a plus: vibe coding, event organizing, curriculum design, conducting research, publishing articles, making conference presentations, supervising interns, marketing/sales.
