Massachusetts Academy of Math & Science at WPI (Mass Academy) is seeking qualified substitute teachers to support our faculty and students throughout the school year.

Mass Academy is a highly selective public STEM school serving academically talented students from across Massachusetts. Our students thrive in a challenging, collaborative environment that emphasizes critical thinking, creativity, research, and real-world application.

Candidates must have one of the following:

A valid Massachusetts teaching license; or

A bachelor's or advanced college degree in the subject area in which they would be substituting.

Successful candidates should be comfortable working with academically advanced high school students and be able to step into a rigorous classroom environment with minimal preparation. Strong communication skills, flexibility, professionalism, and a genuine interest in working with motivated students are highly valued.

Substitute teachers may be asked to:

• Follow lesson plans and classroom expectations provided by the regular teacher.
• Facilitate engaging learning activities and discussions.
• Support students in completing assigned coursework.
• Maintain a positive, respectful, and academically focused classroom environment.
• Communicate relevant information to the regular teacher or school administration.
