LEARNING LIGHTHOUSE SPECIAL EDUCATION TEACHER- FOR SMALL GROUP INSTRUCTION/INCLUSION PROGRAMMING FOR K-2- SWAMPSCOTT ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
Summary:Responsible for planning and implementing effective individualized instruction for students with significant needs for academic and therapeutic support for self-regulation and with an overall goal of academic integration in the least restrictive environment through the integration of behavioral, emotional, and instructional interventions.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES- Positive energy, clear and consistent boundaries with students, sense of humor are necessary
- Complete evaluations, write IEPs, and progress reports
- Provide specialized instruction, including curriculum development and accommodations to students with disabilities for students with developmental delays in social behavior, autism, ADHD, and/or emotional issues, utilizing student interests to be woven into curriculum topics
- Modify curriculum and provide accommodations in the inclusion setting
- Implement behavior support plans and collect data to inform progress and interventions
- Skilled in de-escalation techniques
- Model and coach support staff for the implementation of behavioral supports and accommodations
- Knowledge of Applied Behavioral Analysis, Social Thinking Curricula, and Zones of Regulation required
- Facilitate social skills groups and incidental teaching techniques for social skills
- Communication with parents
- Master’s level required,
- 3 years of experience preferred,
- Severe Disabilities DESE certification in the required grade level
- BCBA certification is a plus
