SUPERVISION EXERCISED: May supervise student personnel, as assigned
General Statement of DutiesThe Technical Assistant I, Environmental Science Laboratory Technician is responsible for managing Earth & Environmental Sciences laboratories and campus geographic information systems (GIS) infrastructure.

Required Qualifications:
- Ability to learn new skills and equipment as needed.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as manuals, specifications, blueprints, drawings, plans, etc.
- Ability to understand and apply the laws, rules, policies and procedures governing assigned unit activities.
- Ability to use precision measuring equipment, gauges and instrumentation.
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
- Ability to establish and maintain harmonious working relationships with others.
- Ability to give oral instructions in a precise, understandable manner.
- Ability to maintain accurate records.
- Ability to operate standard laboratory equipment.
- Ability to prepare laboratory experiments.
- Ability to identify material needs and order necessary supplies.
- Ability to collect and analyze data.
- Ability to perform mathematical calculations.
- Enthusiasm for working outdoors in a wide variety of conditions.
- Manual dexterity and strength, mechanical aptitude.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor s degree in Environmental Science, Geography, Geology, GIS, or closely related field.
- Proficiency in the use of the ESRI GIS product line especially Arc Pro.
- Valid driver s license.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, team environment.
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize multiple, ongoing projects.
- Professional competence as evidenced by personal growth and development and recognition thereof by professional colleagues.
- Experience in developing online geospatial applications.
- Field experience in environmental and/or geological Sciences and analysis.
