Responsibilities- Manage and deliver standardized HSE services and support to all Valmet Service Centers.
- Develop local HSE management plans and a safety culture that meets legal, customer, and Group obligations.
- Promote manager and supervisor ownership of the HSE system and culture.
- Encourage employee participation in safety initiatives across North America and locally.
- Collaborate with local managers, employees, the business line HSE manager, quality, HR, and occupational health teams.
- Serve as the local HSE specialist, delivering services across operations and aiding global HSE functions.
- Coordinate and implement global area HSE processes and develop location‑specific procedures.
- Manage internal and external HSE issues, communicate with stakeholders, and ensure documentation quality.
- Identify HSE risks and opportunities, propose solutions, and communicate them to stakeholders.
- Plan and execute annual HSE improvement plans aligned with global strategy and targets.
- Facilitate HSE training programs for employees and external workers.
- Assist managers in conducting hazard and risk assessments for normal and abnormal operations and when changes are planned.
- Act as a point of contact for global operations support at the Shrewsbury facility, ensuring local, regional, and global initiatives succeed.
- Secondary degree in safety, environmental, or another relevant field (preferred).
- Minimum 5 years’ experience working in/with HSE in a similar environment.
- Experience driving continuous improvement activities.
- Knowledge of ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 management system standards and certifications; other standards are advantageous.
- Proficiency with local, state, and federal safety/environmental regulations.
- Ability to travel up to 50% to other Valmet facilities and customer sites.
