The Judge Group is seeking a Tooling Engineer for a manufacturing company located in the Worcester, MA area.

Title:

Tooling Engineer.

Location:

Worcester, MA. Salary: $80,000 – $110,000.

Responsibilities
  • Design and develop tooling, fixtures, jigs, and progressive/compound dies to support metal stamping and machining operations
  • Create 3D models and detailed drawings using CAD tools (Solid Works, Logo Press, CADKEY, or similar)
  • Partner with Tool Room, Production, Maintenance, and Quality teams to improve safety, quality, throughput, and tool life
  • Support quoting activities by providing tooling concepts, layouts, and technical input
  • Troubleshoot tooling and process issues on the shop floor and implement corrective actions
  • Lead and manage tooling modifications, repairs, and performance improvements
  • Support new product launches through tooling design, validation, and process development
  • Develop purchasing specifications and requisitions for tooling components
  • Maintain tooling documentation, revisions, and engineering records
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on cost reduction, cycle time, and manufacturability
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing Engineering, or equivalent practical experience
  • 3+ years of tooling or tool design experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Strong CAD proficiency and ability to produce shop-ready drawings
  • Hands‑on knowledge of dies, fixtures, jigs, and production tooling
  • Experience working closely with machinists and tool room personnel
  • Solid problem‑solving, analytical, and communication skills
  • Background in metal fabrication, precision machining, or stamping preferred
  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing, SPC, and quality systems (ISO) a plus
