We are looking for an experienced full-time Manufacturing Instrumentation Engineer who loves working in a dynamic environment and is driven to learn and grow. This role will be critical in manipulating the hardware side of equipment used in industrial processes like additive manufacturing (AM), focusing on sensor integration, control systems, and automation.
As an Instrumentation and Controls Engineer with Solvus Global, you will lead team members from many fields (materials, controls, software, etc.) to integrate critical systems surrounding material processing, handling, and additive processes such as Friction Stir AM, Wire Arc AM, and Cold Spray AM. You will be responsible for supporting rapid innovation in system integrations and testing.

-US Person - Bachelors Degree in Automation, Electrical, Robotics, or Mechanical Engineering.
- Proficiency in IEC 61131-3 PLC programming languages (Experience with B&R and Siemens is preferred).
- Experience with industrial safety system design and implementation.
- Experience with digital signal processing and sensor instrumentation.
- Experience with programming for robotics/automation (C, Python, C++, or similar languages)
- Strong understanding and experience with motion systems (drives, motors, etc.).
- 3+ years professional experience as an embedded systems engineer.
- 2+ years professional experience developing electronics and software for robotics.
- Proven experience developing and/or optimizing custom robotics platforms.
- Experience with a wide variety of industrial sensors (flow, pressure, temperature, profilometry, pyrometry, etc.)
- Strong background in product development lifecycle.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
- Advanced Degree in Automation, Industrial, Mechanical, or Robotics Engineering.
- Experience in integrated circuit design, PCB design, and sensor integration.
- Direct experience in additive manufacturing processes (Friction Stir AM, Wire Arc AM, Cold Spray AM).
- Familiarity with communications protocols including CAN, USB, UART, I2C, and SPI.
- Experience with ROS or other communication middleware technologies.
- Experience developing with robotic sensors (IMUs, cameras, encoders, force sensors, etc.).
- Experience working with microcontroller systems (e.g., ARM Cortex, ESP
32, etc.). - Experience with designing, testing, and debugging robotic control algorithms.
- Experience in Machine Learning and/or data science.
- Familiarity working with major industrial robotics platforms (ABB, Fanuc, etc.).
- Fundamental understanding of common Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) technologies (VT, PT, RT, UT).
- ASNT or equivalent NDT certifications
- Desire to lead and mentor junior engineers on relevant skills

Location: Central MA (Worcester / Leominster) – Base office when not deployed
Pay Range: $110,000 - $160,000
