Process Design Engineer
As a Process Design Engineer, you will develop and drive the implementation of new production processes as part of the Product Design Team. You will play a critical role in purchasing equipment and developing strategies that optimize product design and manufacturing processes. This impactful position empowers you to foster innovation and deliver robust solutions in a dynamic and evolving production environment.
The Process Design Engineer reports to the Product Design Engineering Manager and works at our production facility in South Grafton, MA. You will join a strong, agile engineering group dedicated to executing and advancing New Product Designs and manufacturing strategies. - Lead the development and drive the implementation of new production processes, ensuring on-time delivery and value generation.
- Select and purchase equipment that will provide replicable, efficient manufacturing processes using risk assessment and capacity planning.
- Facilitate prototyping and experimentation while analyzing key process data. Guide the development of workflows, layouts, and pilot runs; coordinate troubleshooting and support handover to operations.
- Act as a technical expert in problem solving, guiding root cause analysis, corrective actions, and cost reduction during product introductions.
- Facilitate process assurance by generating and reviewing PFMEAs, managing ECNs/PCNs, and ensuring compliance.
- Develop initial process documentation, work instructions, and/or control plans
- Collaborate with technicians and operators to support equipment setup and provide training
- Conduct process validation and equipment qualification
- Collect manufacturing data and perform production yield and process performance analysis
- Experience with wire and cable stripping processes such rotary stripping or laser stripping.
- Experience with control systems, vision systems, pneumatic systems, and mechanical systems.
- Experience supporting product launches and transformation initiatives in dynamic, fast-paced environments.
- Familiarity with SAP and Lean Manufacturing principles.
For this role, we anticipate paying $100,000 - $140,000 per year. This role is eligible for variable pay, issued as a monetary bonus or in another form.
