Lead Design Engineer

Eaton’s Electrical division is currently seeking a Lead Design Engineer.

The expected annual salary range for this role is $97,000 - $143,000 a year.

What you’ll do:

Lead the development and commercialization of new Hot Aisle Containment product platforms through Eaton's NPD process.

Serve as technical lead for multiple concurrent engineering projects, providing direction, prioritization, and execution oversight.

Drive cross-functional collaboration across Product Management, Manufacturing, Sourcing, Quality, Sales, and Marketing to ensure successful project outcomes.

Lead design reviews, risk assessments, verification and validation activities, and technical decision-making to deliver robust, manufacturable solutions.

Design and develop containment systems, including structural frameworks, doors, panels, and mounting solutions.

Oversee engineering analysis, testing, and compliance activities to ensure product performance, safety, and reliability.

Mentor engineers and provide technical leadership to strengthen team capability and engineering excellence.

Partner with customers, suppliers, and manufacturing teams to develop innovative, cost-effective solutions.

Drive standardization, modularization, quality improvements, and cost reduction initiatives across product families.

Serve as the subject matter expert for containment systems and support strategic customer and business initiatives.

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering with a minimum of seven (7) years of relevant engineering experience OR an Associate's degree with advanced technical training and 12+ years of relevant engineering experience.

You will set yourself apart by demonstrating some or all of the following:

Proficiency with 3D CAD modeling software, preferably Creo.

Experience designing data center containment systems or related infrastructure products.

Strong background in structural steel and sheet metal design and manufacturing processes.

Experience with engineering analysis methods such as FEA, CFD, DFMEA, and design verification.

Knowledge of data center infrastructure, including racks, power distribution, cable management, and cooling systems.

Familiarity with lean manufacturing, value engineering, and product cost optimization.

Experience interpreting architectural, structural, and MEP drawings.
