We do Consulting Differently. BRG’s Corporate Finance practice is seeking a Billing Operations Manager to lead the operational and financial execution of complex corporate finance engagements, based in our Boston office.
This role provides strategic oversight, people leadership, and cross‑functional partnership to ensure accurate billing, strong financial controls, and a high‑quality client experience throughout the engagement lifecycle.
The role works closely with the Corporate Finance business unit and the corporate accounting team. The ideal candidate brings deep experience in professional services operations, a strong understanding of complex engagement structures, and proven ability to lead teams in fast‑paced, high‑accountability environments.
Responsibilities Portfolio & Financial Operations- Oversee end‑to‑end operational and financial execution for a portfolio of complex corporate finance engagements
- Ensure accurate billing, revenue processes, and financial compliance aligned with client agreements and firm policies
- Identify and proactively resolve operational risks, financial issues, and non‑standard engagement scenarios
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team supporting corporate finance operations
- Manage workload distribution, prioritization, and capacity planning to meet business demands
- Serve as the senior escalation point for operational, billing, and process‑related matters
- Establish and maintain strong operational controls to support accuracy, compliance, and audit readiness
- Oversee quality reviews of financial outputs, documentation, and client‑facing deliverables
- Identify systemic issues and implement corrective and preventive actions
- Act as a primary liaison between corporate finance professionals and internal teams including billing, revenue operations, accounting, and financial systems
- Communicate effectively with senior stakeholders to provide visibility into portfolio performance, risks, and timelines
- Lead initiatives to improve efficiency through standardization, automation (including AI), and process optimization
- Partner with systems and technology teams on enhancements, testing, and implementation
- Support firm‑wide initiatives impacting corporate finance operations
- Provide leadership with clear reporting on portfolio activity, trends, risks, and performance metrics
- Support audits, management reporting, and ad‑hoc financial analysis as needed
- Education:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree required in Accounting, Finance, or related business majors - Experience:
10+ years in corporate finance operations, professional services operations, billing, or revenue operations; 3–5 years of people management in a complex, professional services environment - Systems:
Professional services ERP experience (e.g., Workday);
Workday Finance required, Adaptive experience a plus - Technical:
Advanced proficiency in MS Excel - Abilities:
Strong understanding of complex engagement structures, financial workflows, and risk management; proven ability to lead through ambiguity, manage competing priorities, and influence senior stakeholders; excellent written and verbal communication; advanced analytical, organizational, and problem‑solving skills; meticulous attention to detail; time‑management skills
Salary range is $150,000 to $200,000.
