Job DescriptionJob Purpose: Coordinate the tasks and activities at the Thusong Centre in order to ensure equal and effective access to government information and services to the community.
Duties- Identifying the key deliverables and immediate goals for the Thusong Centre detailed in the Council’s Integrated Development Plan, National and Provincial priorities.
- Liaise with internal legal department on lease agreements with service providers and Government institutions.
- Ensure that the Thusong Centre is functional and is capable of supporting National and Provincial priorities in delivery services to communities.
- Monitoring expenditure of all relevant budget line items and act proactive in this regard to prevent over expenditure on the approved budget.
- Implementing plans detailing interventions, actions and timelines guiding the delivery and/or execution of activities.
- Identify and establish key partnerships and good working relationships with all spheres of government as well as the service providers at the Thusong Service Centre.
- Supervise the activities of subordinates.
- Providing advice, guidance and direction to all subordinates in the Thusong Service Centre.
- Ensure proper maintenance and tracking of office equipment and furniture in order to promote an effective working environment.
- Managing the MPC gymnasium.
- Adhering to Health and Safety regulations as set out in the related Council’s Policy, in accordance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
- Assist with the effective establishment and functioning of ward committees.
Minimum Requirements
- National Diploma in Development Studies (NQF Level
6) - 2 years relevant experience in a community development role
- Valid Code B Drivers licence
- Good interpersonal and communication skills
- Be able to work independently
- Good project management skills
- Computer literate (MS Office)
- Good people and reporting skills
- Proficient in at least Two (2) of the three (3) official languages in the Western Cape
