Adjunct Instructor EMT Program.

Part Time. Position .

EMT program instructor must be an Instructor/Coordinator (I/C), who shall be present at all times and oversee all course activities. The I/C shall be currently approved by the Department of Public Health Office of Emergency Medical Services and meet all requirements and updates set forth by the Department of the Public Health Office of Emergency Medical Services.

Responsibilities
  • Planning, developing, instructing and coordinating the EMT-Basic and Advanced EMT classes in accordance with the administrative requirements of the Department.
  • Managing and ensuring quality of the delivery of EMT-Basic and Advanced EMT classes, whether delivered by personal lecture or practical demonstration, or by specialty and guest lecturers. Implement a data collection and documentation system to evaluate classes and assess effectiveness in achieving educational goals in accordance with Department requirements.
  • Staying current and knowledgeable regarding EMT-Basic and Advanced EMT procedures, equipment, initial training standards, statewide treatment protocols, and the role and responsibilities of EMT-Basic and Advanced EMT.
  • Making available to Department agents all records related to EMS training upon request.
  • Department approval and qualifications
  • Current certification at or above the level of EMT training to be taught, in good standing, with no past enforcement actions by the Department.
  • Current certification as an Instructor in Basic Life Support cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
  • A minimum of three years within the last ten years working for an ambulance service as an EMT providing EMS care, at or above the level being taught.
  • Successful completion of a Department-approved EMT instructor-training course that includes adult education, psychomotor skills and affective learning components, or Department-approved substantially equivalent training.
  • Successful completion of an orientation provided by the Department.
  • Competency in teaching and knowledge of the subject matter as demonstrated by a favorable evaluation by the Department.
  • Minimum Qualifications
    • Associate degree
    • Massachusetts EMT (or higher)
    • BLS Instructor
    • Massachusetts EMT-Instructor/Coordinator
