Job Description
Part‑time Speech‑Language Pathologist position at Summit Academy School in Worcester, Massachusetts. Immediate start.
Position Type: Part‑time
Salary: $50 to $60 per hour
Location: Worcester, Massachusetts
Responsibilities- Evaluate and diagnose speech, language, communication, and swallowing disorders; gather background data, review referrals, select and modify evaluation tools, and determine the level of patient’s functioning.
- Plan and provide appropriate individual and group therapy to students in accordance with speech and language goals in Individual Education Plans (IEP).
- Educate students, families, and teachers about treatment methods, proper safe use, and recommend the installation of adaptive equipment.
- Work collaboratively with professionals from other disciplines.
- Provide counseling and consultative services.
- Compile detailed notes on student progress, adjust therapies and treatment plans as necessary, and maintain student records.
- Communicate effectively with colleagues, students, and parents regarding therapy goals and student needs.
- Assist in the selection of equipment and instructional materials for therapy.
- Provide professional development to school personnel on communication deficits in students.
- Participate in meetings and training as required.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Master’s Degree in Speech Language Pathology, Speech Therapy, or related field.
- Current Massachusetts Speech Language Pathology and Audiology license.
- Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech‑Language Pathology (CCC‑SLP).
- Minimum two years of experience with communication disorders in school‑aged children and adolescents.
- Experience working with special‑needs students.
- Proficiency in using accepted tests and measurements to assess communication disorders.
- Knowledge of evaluation, habilitation, and rehabilitation of speech‑language disorders.
- Ability to instruct and manage student behavior.
- Knowledge of learning styles and varied teaching methods.
- Strong interpersonal skills, teamwork, conflict resolution, confidentiality, and HIPAA compliance.
- Excellent verbal and written communication, and the ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, IEPs, manuals, and regulations.
- Strong planning, organizational skills, and the ability to assess student achievement, analyze test results, and prescribe improvement actions.
- Active listening, learning strategies, and social perceptiveness skills.
