Speech-Language Pathologist
Title:
Speech-Language Pathologist
Requirements:
- Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program
- Current state license to practice as a Speech-Language Pathologist
- Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA), or Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY) status with supervision
- Prior experience in a skilled nursing facility or geriatric setting preferred
- Strong clinical skills in evaluation and treatment of dysphagia, cognitive-linguistic deficits, and communication disorders
- Excellent communication, documentation, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively within an interdisciplinary team
Roles & Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive evaluations of residents with speech, language, cognitive, voice, and swallowing disorders
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on assessment findings and physician orders
- Provide direct therapy services targeting communication skills, cognitive-linguistic functioning, and safe swallowing
- Perform and interpret swallow assessments (clinical and/or instrumental, as appropriate) and make diet modification recommendations
- Document all evaluations, treatments, progress notes, and discharge summaries in accordance with state, federal, and facility guidelines
- Educate residents, families, and staff on therapy plans, communication strategies, and safe swallowing techniques
- Participate in care planning and interdisciplinary team meetings, contributing to resident-centered goals
- Monitor and adjust treatment plans based on resident progress and functional outcomes
- Maintain compliance with all professional, legal, and regulatory standards
- Supervise Clinical Fellows (CFYs) and/or Speech-Language Pathology Assistants (SLPAs) in accordance with state and ASHA guidelines (if applicable)
