Title:

Speech-Language Pathologist

Requirements:

  • Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program
  • Current state license to practice as a Speech-Language Pathologist
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA), or Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY) status with supervision
  • Prior experience in a skilled nursing facility or geriatric setting preferred
  • Strong clinical skills in evaluation and treatment of dysphagia, cognitive-linguistic deficits, and communication disorders
  • Excellent communication, documentation, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively within an interdisciplinary team

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive evaluations of residents with speech, language, cognitive, voice, and swallowing disorders
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on assessment findings and physician orders
  • Provide direct therapy services targeting communication skills, cognitive-linguistic functioning, and safe swallowing
  • Perform and interpret swallow assessments (clinical and/or instrumental, as appropriate) and make diet modification recommendations
  • Document all evaluations, treatments, progress notes, and discharge summaries in accordance with state, federal, and facility guidelines
  • Educate residents, families, and staff on therapy plans, communication strategies, and safe swallowing techniques
  • Participate in care planning and interdisciplinary team meetings, contributing to resident-centered goals
  • Monitor and adjust treatment plans based on resident progress and functional outcomes
  • Maintain compliance with all professional, legal, and regulatory standards
  • Supervise Clinical Fellows (CFYs) and/or Speech-Language Pathology Assistants (SLPAs) in accordance with state and ASHA guidelines (if applicable)
