Clinical Social Worker (C)

The Worcester Recovery Center and Hospital (WRCH) operated by the Massachusetts Department of Mental Health (DMH) is seeking an experienced Clinical Social Worker who will play a vital role in providing comprehensive clinical services to patients and their families. The selected candidate will be responsible for conducting psychosocial assessments, developing treatment plans, and coordinating post-treatment care in collaboration with community clinicians.

With a focus on utilizing a variety of therapeutic modalities, the incumbent ensures the delivery of high-quality clinical treatment to address the unique needs of each individual. The Clinical Social Worker's role combines expertise in clinical treatment, interdisciplinary collaboration, case management, and community engagement. With their diverse skill set and compassionate approach, they make a significant impact on the well-being of patients and their families, ensuring continuity of care and supporting successful recovery and reintegration into the community.

Please Note:

This position is full-time, 40 hours per week. The schedule is 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. Days off are Saturday and Sunday.

Duties and Responsibilities

Provide highly skilled clinical services, including individual treatment, group therapy, and family work, to patients and families. Lead in a clinical leadership role for the interdisciplinary treatment team, actively contributing to the development, implementation, and revision of patient treatment plans. Implement treatment by utilizing a flexible array of highly skilled interventions, including individual, family, and group therapy, as outlined in the treatment plan.

Coordinate and develop comprehensive discharge plans in collaboration with the treatment team, case management, and community resources. Provide social work consultation to other disciplines and community agencies, promoting a multidisciplinary approach to patient care. Maintain accurate and thorough documentation according to established standards and practices set by the Department of Social Work, WRCH, and DMH. Assess patient eligibility for entitlements and provide assistance with the application process.

Oversee clinical supervision to clinical social workers and graduate students, as assigned by the Director of Clinical Social Work. Represent the social work department as a key member on hospital-wide committees, bringing valuable insights and perspectives to enhance patient care. Collaborate with community clinicians to ensure seamless continuity of care and effective aftercare support for patients. Engage in a variety of therapeutic modalities to deliver comprehensive

Required Qualifications

Skilled in supervising social work staff and students, demonstrating proficiency in employing supervisory methods and techniques. Capability to develop and establish policies and procedures. Proficient in developing, implementing, and evaluating treatment programs. Demonstrated thorough knowledge of clinical social work methods, encompassing psycho-social diagnosis, as well as individual, group, and family treatment. Strong ability to provide clinical leadership within an interdisciplinary treatment team.

Proficient in evaluating the professional clinical performance of social workers. Demonstrated ability to assume a leadership role in collaborating with other agencies. Proficient in facilitating social work methods and techniques.

Preferred Qualifications

Strong clinical expertise in conducting psychosocial assessments and providing evidence-based clinical interventions, including individual, group, and family therapy. Excellent leadership skills, with the ability to guide and collaborate effectively within an interdisciplinary treatment team. Proven experience in coordinating discharge planning and aftercare services in collaboration with community clinicians and resources. Solid understanding of documentation standards and practices in the field of social work, ensuring accurate and thorough documentation.

Prior experience in providing clinical supervision to social work professionals and graduate students, fostering their professional growth and development. Proficient usage of Microsoft Office products including Word, Teams, and Outlook. Given the population served, bilingual or multilingual fluency.

About Worcester Recovery Center and Hospital (WRCH)

Located on over 20 acres in Worcester, Massachusetts, Worcester Recovery Center and Hospital (WRCH) is part of an integrated network of effective, efficient, and culturally competent mental health services. It provides intermediate and long-term inpatient care for individuals with serious and persistent mental illness who live in Massachusetts, as well as individuals requiring specialized court ordered evaluations. WRCH provides inpatient services to 290 adults and 30 adolescents, inclusive of a Deaf Inpatient Mental Health Service program for 10 patients.
