The Assistant Director of Sports Medicine is responsible for administration of athletic training care to student-athletes including prevention, emergency care and rehabilitation elements. This position is a two year appointment.

• Provide the best possible medical care for the student athlete sand visiting athletic teams
• Provides injury evaluation, treatment, and first-aid care for assigned teams, events, and day to day on-call assignments.
• Plans and implements rehabilitation programs for seriousinjuries or post-surgical conditions.
• Keeps and maintains medical records for each athlete Maintains the inventory for medical supplies and over the countermedications
• Assists in the supervision of athletic training students in the training room and at the practice or competition facility
• Engaging in effective written and oral communication with members of the coaching staff, athletic administration, and sports medicine staff
• Support the implementation of established healthcare guidelinesby fostering effective communication and coordination among student-athletes, parents, coaches, athletic staff, and healthcare professionals to promote the health and well-being ofstudent-athletes.
• Organization and completion of student-athletepre-participation physical examinations; coordinating timelyreferrals and communicating with the Team Physicians regarding student-athlete injuries and medical condition and plan ofcare.
• Working with Athletic Training Education Program students toset up necessary emergency and safety equipment for practice andcompetition;
• Being familiar with Departmental Emergency Plan for practice and competition and be prepared to initiate during practice and competition as well as provide CPR/AED and on fieldextrication
• Must be a student of their craft and strive to stay up-to-dateon the latest techniques used in the athletic industry.

• Master's degree required
• National Athletic Trainers Association Board of Certification required
• State of Massachusetts Board of Allied Health Professionals Licensure required CPR, AED, First Aide, & Blood Borne Pathogens Certifications
• Experience managing multiple tasks, and while workingproficiently under pressure.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects effectively with tight deadlines.

The salary range for this position is $52,000 - $55,000.
