  • Lead and manage UMass Memorial Medical Center-wide quality, performance improvement, patient safety, regulatory compliance and sustainability efforts using a data-driven approach
  • Lead performance improvement activities in selected departments and divisions
  • Conduct quality and patient safety assessments, analyses, facilitation, information-system solution identification, communication and best-practice implementation
  • Lead change management and facilitate sustainable performance and process improvement strategies
  • Build business cases for Quality and Safety, considering ROI, regulatory or contractual requirements and strategic advantages
  • Ensure compliance and readiness for regulatory, licensing and oversight reviews, inspections, reporting and applications
  • Establish priorities using performance data, risk, volume, problem-prone processes, external drivers and performance-improvement tools
  • Foster creativity, learning systems and evidence-based, patient-centric innovations
  • Coach and mentor individuals and teams in performance improvement strategies
  • Identify organizational risks and collaborate with Risk Management to improve process and operational effectiveness
  • Assess, design and evaluate Patient Safety and Regulatory processes
  • Develop and implement risk-reduction strategies and action plans
  • Apply FMEA, RCA, checklists and project plans to improve safe healthcare delivery
  • Analyze project measures and evaluate process-improvement efforts
  • Collaborate with Quality Analytics and Applied Informatics
  • Perform qualitative and quantitative data analysis and prepare data for committee and project meetings
  • Support intake and basic data analysis for quality and safety projects
  • Facilitate analysis and interpretation of organizational outcomes data
  • Design and maintain quality-reporting, project and dashboard reports and troubleshoot related issues
  • Participate in regulatory surveys and collaborate with regulatory agencies and the community
  • Educate management on regulatory and accreditation requirements
  • Participate in annual patient quality and safety self-assessment through the Intracycle Monitoring Process
  • Conduct tracer activities with senior leaders to support regulatory readiness
  • Support Medical Center committees and lead meetings involving physicians, nurses and caregivers
Requirements
  • Master’s degree in public health, health care administration, business administration or related area required, or Bachelor’s degree with current enrollment in a qualified master’s-level degree program
  • Five years of related experience
  • Strong knowledge of clinical processes and operations in a health care system
  • Demonstrated leadership and project management skills
  • Proficiency in statistical quality control techniques, operations analysis and quality management training
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong analytical skills for qualitative and quantitative data analysis, statistical report review and identification of data needs
  • Proficiency with word processing, spreadsheets, relational databases and graphic tools
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted where applicable
  • Clinical degree preferred
  • Certification in Healthcare and/or Quality preferred
