University of Massachusetts Chan Medical School and its clinical partner, UMass Memorial Health, is a thriving academic health care system located in Worcester MA, about an hour's drive west of Boston or north of Providence, and about 3.75 hour drive from NYC. The environment provides a highly supportive home for fellows, with opportunities to collaborate with leading researchers and engage in meaningful clinical work.

This fellowship will focus on using best practices to translate evidence-based suicide prevention interventions into clinical practice across a range of healthcare settings. Fellows will participate in ongoing research and grant submissions, will complete pilot projects, have opportunities for publications and presentations using new and existing datasets, and will prepare mentored research grants (e.g., F32 or K99 to NIH, American Foundation for Suicide Prevention postdoctoral fellowship or early career awards, or other postdoctoral level awards).

Current active research includes funding through NIMH, NIDA, SAMHSA, and others. Projects focus on implementing empirically supported treatments for suicide risk screening and prevention, substance abuse, and other behavioral health screening. Leveraging technology and health informatics to promote implementation is a cross-population theme. The fellow will have ample opportunity for additional training and experiences with Population and Quantitative Health Sciences' Division of Health Informatics and Implementation Science.

Applicants with strong methodological, statistical, and quantitative experience are desirable. Individuals with doctoral degrees in psychology, public health, epidemiology, health sciences, health services research, or related fields are welcome to apply.

Fellows will have opportunities to engage in working with healthcare systems on improving their suicide care pathways and will have opportunities for providing training and education across a range of settings, including within the medical school, graduate school of nursing, and residency programs both at UMass Chan and with other Universities.

A doctoral degree is required in psychology, public health, epidemiology, health sciences, health services research, or related fields. Individuals with a concentration or any prior training in implementation science or health services research are encouraged to apply, though this training is not a required.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Applicants must be comfortable approaching patients in the ED and acute care setting.
• Experience in healthcare setting, either clinical or research
• The applicant will be working on multiple projects so flexibility is a must
• Off-site travel will be required to UMass Memorial Community EDs
• Excellent interpersonal skills to interact with a diverse array of research participants, physicians, clinical staff, and other members of the research team
• Computer proficiency (Word, Excel, email)
• Statistical experience (SAS, R, SPSS, STATA)
• Experience with implementing new interventions in healthcare settings
• Experience with behavioral health and suicide prevention
