Systems Administrator, IT Support
The Network Operations and Support Specialist at Brooks School will work with the Director of Technology in a hands‑on team environment with other members of the Information Technology department to provide quality technology support and services to the school community. With a focus on networking and infrastructure, the position will also assist in managing the day‑to‑day technology operations of the school, including help desk, hardware, software, audio‑visual, and security systems.
ESSENTIALFUNCTIONS AND KEY OBJECTIVES Network Operations and Infrastructure
- Management, installation, and support of wired and wireless networking systems
- Maintain and support cybersecurity systems, including firewalls and endpoint protection
- Maintain the campus VoIP systems
- Maintain a fiber‑based campus network across multiple buildings
- Assist and support in the administration of Windows Servers
- Assist in systems management, including Active Directory, VMware, SAN storage, and cloud backup systems
- Assist in the management of core systems, particularly Google Workspace
- Assist employees and students with issues as they arise (Mac OS and Windows)
- Assist with classroom technology and audio‑visual equipment throughout campus
- Set up audio‑visual equipment and provide technical support for campus events
- Serve as the primary manager of relationships with third‑party vendors
- Assist the Director of Technology in large‑scale projects, technology design, and cybersecurity planning
- Collaborate with the Facilities and Security team in managing campus security systems (card access, security cameras, speakers, etc.)
- Basic assistance with some 3D printing and makerspace tools
- Some night and weekend work is required to support off‑hour emergencies or campus events that require technology support

PHYSICAL DEMANDS- Must be able to walk and support users and equipment across a large campus
- Must be able to walk up stairs, climb a ladder, and remain on one’s feet for periods of time
- Must be able to lift up to 30 lbs as needed

QUALIFICATIONS- 3‑5+ years of IT/networking experience, preferably in an educational environment
- A solid foundation in local network management and administration, including system configuration, setup, troubleshooting, planning, implementation, and user support
- Customer‑focused with an approachable demeanor and the ability to keep a positive and calm attitude in a fast‑paced environment
- Must work well as part of a team with the ability to balance duties and step in as needed
- A strong desire to learn new skills and a willingness to cross‑train with team members
- A Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or related is preferred
- Technical certifications are a plus
