Summary

The Procurement & Supply Chain Manager is responsible for leading the company's supplier and sourcing strategy to improve profitability, strengthen supplier partnerships, and ensure a reliable supply of packaging products for resale to its established and growing customer base. This role develops strategic supplier relationships, negotiates commercial agreements, identifies new sourcing opportunities, and partners cross-functionally with Sales, Account Management, Operations, and customers to deliver value.

Initially an individual contributor managing procurement activities, the position is designed to scale into a people leadership role as the business grows.

Duties And Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute procurement strategies that support approved gross-margin, cost-savings, working-capital, and supplier-consolidation targets. Review performance monthly and implement corrective actions when results are below plan.
  • Lead supplier negotiations and commercial management for pricing, payment terms, rebates, volume incentives, freight programs, contracts, and service-level agreements. Track and report realized savings, cost avoidance, purchase-price variance, and margin impact monthly and quarterly.
  • Build and manage strategic supplier relationships using defined key performance indicators, supplier scorecards, and quarterly business reviews. Hold suppliers accountable for quality, on-time delivery, lead-time adherence, responsiveness, cost competitiveness, capacity, and corrective-action completion.
  • Identify, qualify, onboard, and develop suppliers that improve cost competitiveness, innovation, capacity, geographic coverage, and supply continuity. Complete supplier evaluations and onboarding activities within established timelines and documentation requirements.
  • Lead value-engineering and cost-reduction initiatives involving alternative materials, packaging configurations, product specifications, and manufacturing solutions. Maintain a prioritized project pipeline with assigned owners, milestones, completion dates, and validated financial benefits against annual targets.
  • Develop and maintain supply-risk and business-continuity strategies for critical products, suppliers, customers, and geographic regions. Implement dual-source, regional-source, and supplier-redundancy plans, review continuity plans at least annually, and track the percentage of critical spend and products supported by qualified contingency sources.
  • Monitor supply conditions and proactively mitigate disruptions by reviewing supplier capacity, lead times, inventory availability, delivery performance, commodity trends, freight conditions, and relevant market developments. Report risks monthly and immediately
  • Partner with cross-functional stakeholders in operations, sales, finance, quality, engineering, and other functions to align sourcing decisions with forecasted demand, inventory objectives, customer commitments, product requirements, and financial goals. Conduct regular reviews to resolve gaps, prioritize initiatives, and confirm accountability.
  • Manage procurement performance, compliance, and continuous improvement through monthly dashboards and quarterly management reviews. Maintain accurate contracts, supplier records, pricing files, certifications, risk assessments, and performance data; complete renewals and reviews before expiration; and implement measurable improvements in process efficiency, data accuracy, cycle times, supplier performance, and financial results.

Skills And Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Operations, Engineering, or related field preferred.
  • 8+ years of procurement, strategic sourcing, supply chain, or purchasing experience required.
  • Experience in packaging, manufacturing, distribution, or industrial products preferred.
  • Strong supplier negotiation and contract management skills.
  • Knowledge of strategic sourcing, supplier performance management, and inventory planning.
  • Analytical ability to identify cost savings and operational improvements.
  • Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Must have attention to detail and focused concentration.
  • Must be able to learn new tasks and complete tasks independently.
  • Must be able to make timely decisions in the context of the workflow.
  • Must possess strong organizational skills, ability to multi-task and responsiveness.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
  • Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, and use hands to handle or operate office equipment.
