Position Summary:

The Lead Director, Provider Recruitment and Onboarding is responsible for building and leading the operating model for provider recruitment, onboarding, and readiness across Aetna’s interoperability portfolio. This role will establish the structure, priorities, workflows, and execution discipline needed to move providers through recruitment and onboarding in a coordinated, scalable way. This leader will oversee the day-to-day provider recruitment and onboarding engine, including the pipeline, worklists, content, operating materials, and team structure required to support execution.

The role will lead a team that includes regional 109-level roles responsible for driving provider adoption and onboarding activity within assigned markets or territories, while ensuring those efforts are aligned to enterprise priorities and delivered consistently across the portfolio. The Lead Director will work closely with provider-specified teams, Network, provider-facing partners, and internal stakeholders to coordinate execution, remove barriers, improve provider movement through the pipeline, and support a stronger provider experience.

This role will also help shape the readiness model for both direct connect and non-EHR-specific site strategies as the broader provider connectivity structure continues to scale.

Key Responsibilities
  • Build and lead the operating model for provider recruitment, onboarding, and readiness across the portfolio.
  • Establish and manage the tactical pipeline, worklists, content, operating materials, and execution tools needed to support provider onboarding at scale.
  • Lead and develop the team responsible for provider recruitment and onboarding execution, including regional 109-level roles accountable for provider adoption and onboarding within assigned markets.
  • Set priorities, clarify roles, and create consistent operating rhythms across the team to ensure work is coordinated, visible, and advancing.
  • Drive provider movement through recruitment, onboarding, and readiness processes with strong operational discipline and follow-through.
  • Partner closely with provider-specified teams, Network, provider-facing teams, and internal stakeholders to align execution plans and remove barriers.
  • Create visibility into work in flight, pipeline status, regional progress, handoffs, risks, and stalled work requiring intervention.
  • Guide development of provider-facing content, work structures, and onboarding materials that support scalable execution.
  • Support onboarding and readiness efforts across both direct connect and non-EHR-specific site approaches.
  • Identify workflow inefficiencies and process improvement opportunities that simplify work and improve provider and internal team experience.
  • Translate enterprise priorities into practical execution plans and team direction across provider onboarding and readiness work.
Required Qualifications
  • 10+ years experience in healthcare, including experience with leading provider onboarding, provider operations, implementation, recruitment, or other related complex provider-facing execution work.
  • Experience leading teams and managing execution across multiple work streams, markets, or portfolios.
  • Strong operating discipline, pipeline management, and execution leadership capability.
  • Ability to build process, content, and team structures in an evolving and highly matrixed environment.
  • Strong partnership, collaboration, and relationship management skills across operational, technical, and provider-facing teams.
  • Strong communication, prioritization, and people leadership skills appropriate for a senior Lead Director role.
  • Education:

Bachelor's degree or 10+ years of experience working with provider and payer workflows.
