Umbilical Search is proud to be partnering with a high-technology manufacturing company. The business operates a state-of-the-art facility in Massachusetts, producing advanced technical products for diverse industrial, engineering and technology markets.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a business where you will lead all operations activities, including lean and continuous improvement. The role will have direct responsibility for multiple production departments, leading a total team of approximately 60 direct staff.
Key Responsibilities- Oversee daily factory operations, ensuring safety, quality, delivery, and cost targets are met
- Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing operations team while fostering a Lean and Continuous Improvement culture
- Monitor KPIs, manage WIP, and implement corrective actions to optimize plant performance
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Quality, Engineering, Supply Chain, Finance, HR, and H&S teams
- Champion Lean, Six Sigma, and Continuous Improvement initiatives, including Kaizen events and value stream mapping
- Develop, maintain, and execute a Continuous Improvement roadmap aligned with strategic objectives
- Train and mentor employees in Lean/Continuous Improvement tools, digital systems, and best practices
- Lead daily/weekly production meetings, Gemba walks, and senior management alignment sessions
- Manage inventory, stock turns, OTIF, safety, quality, labor utilization, and operational KPIs
- Support ERP/MRP activities and drive digital transformation initiatives, including SPC dashboards and traceability systems
- Proven leadership in a senior operational role – Operations Manager, Manufacturing Manager, or similar
- Background in mid-volume, technically complex manufacturing
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Operations, Manufacturing, Science, or related field (Master’s preferred)
- Lean/Six Sigma experience essential (Green Belt or higher)
- Hands‑on, strategic, and capable of driving Continuous Improvement initiatives while managing day‑to‑day operations
- Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and KPI management skills
