Manufacturing Engineer

Job purpose

Develops and improves manufacturing processed by studying product and manufacturing methods.

Duties and responsibilities
  • Using manufacturing engineering practices, responsible for writing routings/manufacturing instructions.
  • Coordinate the successful transition of new products and technology into the production arena.
  • Write appropriation requests and prepare quotes.
  • Evaluate and approve drawings, routings, specs and other documents.
  • Design and procure tools/equipment.
  • Process development and documentation of manufacturing work instructions and standard work.
  • Support prototyping activities of new product development.
  • Evaluate and solve production problems.

    Coordinate maintenance operations, including all activities of the shop floor and follow established procedures and approved processes.
  • Identify, plan and lead Kaizen initiatives that lead to sustainable process improvement.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial, Manufacturing, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of 5+ years’ Manufacturing Engineer experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Required LEAN manufacturing experience.
  • Experience/knowledge with process and equipment validation, PFMEA , IQ/OQ/PQ, etc.
  • CAD experience/knowledge. Solidworks preferred.
  • Candidate must possess good project management skills and initiative in taking on and completing projects.
  • Candidate must possess good verbal and written communication skills.
Working conditions
  • May be exposed to industrial oils, toner, coolants, solvents, lubricants, adhesive and other chemicals.

    NOTE:

    All safety precautions will be used.
  • Plant wide climate control and air conditioning
  • Could work in areas with excessive noise.

    NOTE:

    Ear protection available.
Physical requirements
  • Could require intermittent and long periods of sitting and/or standing.
  • Required to do repetitive work.
  • Periodic lifting of materials not to exceed 50 pounds.
  • Includes frequent walking, bending, kneeling, stopping, crawling, and crouching.
