YOUR ROLE & IMPACT AT ASGASG seeks a strategic communications professional who will serve as a primary driver of earned media visibility and traditional press relations and media buying for our clients. As Communications & Media Relations Manager, you will build and maintain relationships with journalists, editors, and producers across mainstream and multicultural media outlets while developing compelling narratives that position ASG clients as trusted voices on critical issues.
This role is essential to expanding ASG's capacity to deliver comprehensive communications services across all active client engagements. You will identify newsworthy angles, pitch stories that secure meaningful coverage, and write media-ready content that translates complex initiatives into clear, compelling public messaging. Working collaboratively with internal teams, you will ensure that traditional media strategies integrate seamlessly with digital, creative, and community engagement efforts to amplify client impact.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES Develop and Execute Public Relations and Traditional Media Buy Strategies:
Design comprehensive PR and traditional media plans that align with client objectives and ASG's mission, ensuring campaigns strengthen reputation, expand visibility, and build community trust
Shape Campaign Messaging:
Refine and oversee messaging frameworks to ensure strategic alignment, cultural relevance, and consistency across all earned, owned, paid, and shared media channels
Provide Crisis Communications Support:
Offer proactive counsel and coordinate timely, transparent response strategies during reputational challenges to protect client credibility
Lead Event Communications:
Plan and execute media components of high-profile events including press conferences, town halls, community forums, and public engagements to maximize coverage and impact
Integrate PR Across Campaigns:
Collaborate with Communications & Media and Creative Services teams to weave public relations tactics into broader campaign strategies, ensuring alignment with digital advertising and engagement efforts
Track Performance and Impact:
Establish KPIs, monitor media coverage, and report on outcomes to demonstrate the value and reach of PR initiatives
Drive
Innovation: Stay informed on emerging trends, tools, and techniques in public relations; recommend new approaches that strengthen ASG's service offerings and client results
Support
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
Partner with Account Managers, Community Engagement, and Creative Services to ensure all PR work is client-centered, strategically sound, and delivers measurable outcomes
Serve as Trusted Advisor:
Counsel clients on public relations strategy, reputation management, and media engagement, positioning ASG as a strategic communications partner.
Build and Maintain Traditional Media Relationships:
Cultivate relationships with mainstream journalists, editors, producers, and media outlets at the local, regional, and national level to position the organization as a trusted source.
Proactive Traditional Media Outreach:
Identify timely news angles and pitch story ideas to traditional media outlets to secure interviews, features, and coverage.
Coordinate Traditional Media Interviews and Appearances:
Arrange and manage interview opportunities for clients' leaders, including coordinating logistics, preparing briefing materials, and ensuring alignment with messaging.
Draft Media-Focused Content:
Write and edit mainstream media press releases, media advisories, Op-Eds, talking points, and media pitches that effectively communicate appropriate perspective and expertise.
Monitor Traditional Media Opportunities and News Trends:
Track relevant news cycles and emerging issues to identify opportunities to contribute expert commentary.
Prepare Leadership for Mainstream Media Engagements:
Support clients and organization with talking points, background materials, and messaging guidance to ensure effective and consistent traditional media and press interactions.
