Summary

The Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse provides comprehensive patient care in an obstetric setting, ensuring high‑quality, patient‑centered care during labor, delivery, and the immediate postpartum period.

Responsibilities
  • Communicate labor and delivery procedures to patients and families, providing reassurance and addressing concerns
  • Administer prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with obstetric nursing techniques
  • Prepare equipment and assist physicians during labor, delivery, and examinations
  • Provide immediate postpartum care, including assessment and stabilization of mother and newborn
  • Educate patients and families on postpartum recovery, breastfeeding, and newborn care
  • Collaborate with obstetricians, anesthesiologists, neonatologists, and other team members to deliver cohesive care
  • Respond to obstetric emergencies such as preeclampsia, hemorrhage, or fetal distress, using evidence‑based protocols
  • Document patient care accurately in the medical record
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance maternal and neonatal outcomes
  • Perform fetal monitoring and interpret results
  • Assist in cesarean sections and other obstetric procedures
  • Comply with all regulatory standards, hospital policies, state laws, and federal guidelines
  • Perform other duties as assigned within scope of labor and delivery nursing
Required Qualifications
  • At least one year of recent experience as a Labor and Delivery RN
  • Valid RN license in compliance with state regulations
  • Current BLS certification (AHA/ARC)
  • NEP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) Certification
Preferred Qualifications
  • AWHONN Fetal Monitoring Certification
  • STABLE and ACLS Certifications (AHA/ARC)
  • Other certifications and licenses may be required for this position

  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and basic PC proficiency
  • Physical ability to stand, move equipment up to 50‑100 lbs, push, pull, and bend
