Overview
Worcester Rehab is hiring an RN MDS Director to join our reimbursement team. Worcester Rehab is a 146-bed skilled nursing facility with a large SUDS population. Salary range: $45 to $50 per hour, depending on experience.
Responsibilities- Plan, organize, and direct the MDS process, including overseeing resident care plans through clinical assessment, review of resident medical history, personal interviews, and completion of MDS reports.
- Coordinate MDS process; oversee ADL training for facility and staff.
- Issue and deliver denial notices timely and appropriately.
- Complete and transmit all CMS approved item sets (MDS).
- Follow current CMS regulatory guidelines as described in the RAI Manual.
- Comply with facility privacy policies and protect residents’ health information.
- Maintain Medicare meeting minutes per Medicare program agreement.
- Issue and deliver Medicare denial letters per CMS regulations.
- Manage residents’ Medicare/Insurance benefits appropriately.
- Maintain adequate systems to ensure documents support billed services.
- Other duties assigned by manager.
- Must possess a Nursing Degree from an accredited school of nursing, college, or university.
- Must possess a current, unencumbered RN license in this state.
- Prior experience in MDS is required.
- Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English.
- Ability to make independent decisions when warranted.
- Ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel, and the public.
- Ability to coordinate MDS systems, resident assessment, and care plans in a timely manner.
- Knowledge of nursing and medical practices, laws, regulations, and guidelines pertaining to long-term care.
- Leadership and supervisory ability; ability to work harmoniously with professional and non-professional personnel.
- Patience, tact, a cheerful disposition, and enthusiasm; willingness to handle difficult residents.
- Willingness to adopt new methods and incorporate them into practice.
- Ability to communicate effectively regarding emergency situations.
- Accurate and comprehensive assessment skills to ensure nursing standards.
