RN Nurse, Operating Room Nurse, Surgical Assistant
Unit Summary
We are seeking an experienced RN for our Operating Room. We offer a full spectrum of surgical services using state‑of‑the‑art technology and minimally invasive approaches. We perform ENT, General, Gynecology, Neurology, Ophthalmic, Orthopedics, Plastics, Podiatry, robotics, trauma, urology surgeries and more!
Hours40 hours/week (7 a‑5:30 p). Minimal call required.
RN Career Direct Care Pathway Levels- Level I – 0 – Less than 12 months of RN experience.
- Level II – 12 months – Less than 3 years of RN experience.
- Level III – 3 years – Less than 8 years of RN experience.
- Level IV – 8 years of RN experience.
This role focuses on providing professional nursing care services in accordance with physician orders and performing clinical nurse duties, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care within scope of practice.
Job OverviewThe RN Complex Care independently provides direct nursing care to patients and families in a complex care area following established policies and procedures.
Job DescriptionResponsibilities include participating in performance improvement initiatives, integrating evidence‑based practice, conducting clinical assessments, developing individualized care plans, managing patient assignments, developing educational plans, recognizing patient/family rights, revising care plans, developing discharge plans, supporting new staff, providing professional growth through precepting, participating in professional development, and serving on departmental committees.
Minimum Qualifications- Massachusetts RN licensure.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Department‑specific certification(s) may be required.
- Experience based on level (I – IV).
- Minimum 1 year of Operating Room experience.
- Prior circulating and scrubbing experience.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
- Occasional lifting of 30–35 lb and turning patients.
- Prolonged standing and walking.
- Occasional twisting, bending, reaching, pushing/pulling, sitting, kneeling, and squatting.
- Exposure to infectious disease and possible carcinogenic chemicals.
- Exposure to blood‑borne pathogens.
- Requires fine manual dexterity to lift and maneuver patients.
- Requires visual and aural acuity necessary to monitor patient care.
- Effective communication with patients, families, physicians, and the healthcare team.
- Knowledge of and application of the nursing process.
