Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Level I Trauma Center Emergency Department position in Worcester, MA, requiring a permanent MA RN license, 18 months of ED experience, and the ability to pass telemetry and medication exams at orientation.

Details
  • Emergency Department (ED) at a Level I Trauma Center and academic teaching hospital
  • Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts, starting at 11:00 PM with flexibility up to four hours before or after posted start time based on urgent staffing needs only
  • 26-week contract with a 36 or 48 hours per week option
  • Patients include high-acuity trauma and emergency cases requiring telemetry monitoring, ventilator management, cardiac monitoring, and triage
  • Skills utilized include interpretation and management of cardiac dysrhythmias, care of ventilated patients, triage, and psych/behavioral health ED cases
  • Epic EMR experience preferred
  • Union facility — no special scheduling accommodations can be made; must be available to work all 7 days of the week
Requirements
  • Active, permanent MA RN license currently in hand is required
  • Minimum 18 months of ED experience required; 2+ years preferred
  • Level I Trauma experience required; candidates without it will be screened carefully
  • Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, PALS
  • Preferred certifications: NIHSS, TNCC
  • Must be able to read and interpret telemetry/EKG rhythms
  • Two professional references required for consideration, at least one must be from a Nurse Manager or higher
  • Candidates must not have any prior disciplinary actions on their nursing license
  • No active employment or separation of less than 12 months from this health system
Additional Information
  • Two pass/fail exams are administered at orientation: a medication exam and a telemetry/EKG exam — each allows only one attempt; failure results in immediate contract cancellation
  • Study materials are provided during the compliance process and facility-directed in-services (FDIs) to help prepare for orientation exams
  • Pre-start modules (1–2 hours) and orientation modules must be completed prior to and during orientation; these are non-billable
  • One major winter holiday (Thanksgiving, Christmas, or New Year's) may be included in RTO requests; priority given to candidates with minimal RTO and 26-week contracts
  • Up to 14 days of RTO may be submitted for review; no RTO is permitted during the first week of the contract
  • Local candidates are accepted; RNs must reside more than 200 miles from the facility to qualify for travel rates
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
