American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Level I Trauma Center Emergency Department position in Worcester, MA, requiring an active MA RN license and a minimum of 18 months of ED experience.
Details- Fast-paced Level I Trauma Center Emergency Department setting in Worcester, MA
- Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts, 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM (with rare flex up to four hours before or after posted start time based on critical staffing need)
- Patient population includes trauma, cardiac, psychiatric/behavioral health, and general emergency cases
- Telemetry reading and cardiac monitoring required
- Triage responsibilities included
- Epic EMR experience preferred
- Contract length of 26 weeks, with 13-week contracts also considered
- 36 or 48 hours per week scheduling options available
- Active, permanent MA RN license currently in hand is required
- Minimum 18 months of ED experience required; 2+ years preferred
- Level I Trauma Center experience required — strong candidates without this will be screened carefully
- Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS
- Preferred certifications: NIHSS, TNCC
- Must be able to read and interpret telemetry/cardiac dysrhythmias
- Two professional references required, at least one of whom must be a Nurse Manager or higher
- Candidates must reside more than 200 miles from the facility to qualify for travel rates; local candidates within 200 miles are also accepted
- Two pass/fail exams are administered at orientation: a telemetry exam (80% passing score) and a medication exam — each has only one attempt, and failing either results in immediate contract cancellation
- Study materials are provided during the compliance process and facility-directed in-services (FDIs)
- Pre-start online modules are required (approximately 1–2 hours) and are completed prior to the start date
- This is a union facility — no special scheduling accommodations can be made; must be available to work all 7 days of the week
- Up to 14 days of RTO may be submitted for review; no RTO is permitted during the first week of the contract
- One major winter holiday (Thanksgiving, Christmas, or New Year's Day) may be included in RTO; priority given to travelers with minimal RTO and 26-week contracts
- Candidates who have previously worked within the health system must have a 12-month separation before being eligible
