Description

American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for an Emergency Department position at a Level I Trauma Center in Worcester, MA, requiring a permanent MA RN license and at least 18 months of ED experience.

Details
  • Work setting is a Level I Trauma Center and academic teaching hospital
  • Emergency Department unit
  • Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts, starting at 7:00 PM (with rare flex up to 4 hours before or after start time based on critical department need)
  • Must be available to work any day of the week — no special scheduling accommodations
  • Epic EMR experience preferred
  • Telemetry monitoring is part of routine patient care
  • Contract length options of 13 or 26 weeks available, with 36 or 48 hours per week options
Requirements
  • Active, permanent MA RN license currently in hand is required
  • Minimum 18 months of ED experience required; 2+ years preferred
  • Level I Trauma Center experience required — strong candidates without it will be screened carefully
  • Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS
  • Preferred certifications: NIHSS, TNCC
  • Ability to read and interpret telemetry/cardiac monitoring and manage dysrhythmias
  • Two professional references required, with at least one from a Nurse Manager or higher
  • No prior disciplinary actions or priors on nursing license
Additional Information
  • Orientation includes two pass/fail exams: a medication exam and a telemetry/EKG exam — each allows only one attempt; failure results in immediate contract cancellation
  • Study materials are provided during the compliance process and facility-directed in services (FDIs) to help prepare for orientation exams
  • Candidates must reside more than 200 miles from the facility to qualify for travel rates; local candidates within 200 miles are accepted at the same bill rate
  • Former employees of the health system must have a 12-month separation before being considered
  • Up to 14 days of RTO may be submitted for review; no RTO is permitted during the first week of the assignment
  • One major winter holiday (Thanksgiving, Christmas, or New Year's) may be included in RTO; priority given to candidates with minimal RTO requests and 26-week contracts
  • This is a union facility; no special scheduling accommodations can be made for any reason
  • Skills utilized include triage, care of ventilated patients, cardiac monitoring and emergency response, and psych/behavioral health ED experience is a plus
