Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Level I Trauma Center Emergency Department position requiring a permanent MA RN license, ACLS/BLS/PALS certifications, and at least 18 months of ED experience.

Details
  • Emergency Department (ED) position at a Level I Trauma Center and academic teaching hospital in Worcester, MA
  • Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts, with a standard start time of 7:00 PM (flexibility of up to four hours before or after start time may be required in rare, urgent staffing situations)
  • 26-week contract with a 36 or 48 hours-per-week option available
  • Telemetry monitoring is required in this unit
  • Epic EMR experience preferred
  • Local candidates are accepted (same bill rate applies)
Requirements
  • Active, permanent MA RN license currently in hand is required
  • Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, PALS
  • NIHSS and TNCC preferred
  • Minimum 18 months of ED experience required; 2+ years preferred
  • Level I Trauma Center experience strongly preferred — candidates without it will be screened carefully
  • Ability to read telemetry and interpret/manage cardiac dysrhythmias required
  • Skills in triage, respiratory care, care of ventilated patients, and cardiac monitoring and emergency response required
  • Psych/Behavioral Health ED experience is a plus
  • Two professional references required, with at least one from a Nurse Manager or higher
Additional Information
  • This is a union facility — no special scheduling accommodations can be made, and staff must be available to work all 7 days of the week
  • Two pass/fail exams are administered during orientation: a telemetry/EKG exam and a medication exam; each exam allows only one attempt, and a failed exam will result in immediate contract cancellation
  • Study materials will be provided during the compliance process and facility-defined intervals (FDIs) to help prepare for orientation exams
  • Candidates must reside more than 200 miles from the facility to qualify for travel rates
  • Up to 14 days of RTO may be requested; no RTO is permitted during the first week of the contract
  • One major winter holiday (Thanksgiving, Christmas, or New Year's Day) may be included in RTO; priority given to candidates with minimal RTO requests and 26-week contracts
  • Candidates must have a 12-month separation from the health system before being eligible to return
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
