Onsite The RN Director – Operating Room provides leadership and operational oversight for nursing and designated patient care services within the hospital environment. Reporting in support of the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO), this role is responsible for assisting in the assessment, planning, implementation, coordination, and evaluation of nursing practice across assigned perioperative and surgical service areas. This leadership role maintains 24/7 accountability for assigned departments while ensuring delivery of high-quality, safe, and patient-centered care.
The ideal candidate will possess strong hospital OR leadership experience, operational expertise, staff development capabilities, and a commitment to clinical excellence and regulatory compliance.
- Hospital-based perioperative leadership role
- Fast-paced surgical and patient care environment
- Direct collaboration with CNO, surgeons, anesthesia teams, and hospital leadership
- Oversight of OR operations, staffing, patient care quality, and clinical compliance
- 24/7 operational accountability for assigned areas
- Provide operational and clinical leadership for Operating Room and assigned patient care areas
- Support the CNO in overseeing nursing practice and patient care delivery
- Ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality perioperative care services
- Maintain 24/7 accountability for assigned departments
- Assess, plan, coordinate, implement, and evaluate nursing practice on a multi-unit level
- Promote evidence-based nursing care and patient safety initiatives
- Ensure competency and ongoing development of clinical staff
- Support quality improvement and patient satisfaction initiatives
- Lead, mentor, and develop nursing teams and clinical leadership staff
- Foster a collaborative and professional work environment
- Support staffing, scheduling, performance management, and resource allocation
- Ensure compliance with hospital policies, regulatory standards, and accreditation requirements
- Oversee appropriate utilization of clinical resources
- Assist with operational planning and departmental budgeting initiatives
- Support continuous improvement and operational efficiency efforts
- Associate Degree from an accredited nursing program with:
Bachelor's Degree in healthcare-related field OR BSN required - Active Registered Nurse (RN) License
- CPR Certification
- Minimum 2 years of progressive management experience in a hospital environment as a Manager or Director
- Hospital Operating Room (OR) experience required
- Strong leadership, operational, and communication skills
- Experience supporting multi-unit nursing operations and patient care services
- MSN or Master's Degree in healthcare-related field
- Director-level perioperative leadership experience
- Experience supporting CNO-level operational initiatives
- Strong background in surgical services operations and nursing quality improvement
