Provides constant observation of high-risk patients as assigned by the Emergency Department Resource Nurse;
Monitors the patient’s safety checks every 15 minutes for an assigned group of patients;
Assists patients with movement, undressing, securing belongings, meals, and comfort; de-escalates patients as needed;
Participates in restraints under direction of RN or MD when trained;
Documents patient behavior every fifteen minutes and facilitates handoff to the next ED Observation Assistant
