UMass Memorial Medical Group seeks OB Triage Team Lead to serve within our Labor & Delivery program. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Nurse Practitioner, Physician Assistant or Midwife to combine direct patient care with meaningful clinical and team leadership in a busy, high-acuity OB triage environment. Our competitive compensation and benefits package places us as your top choice in the region.

While OB Triage is technically an outpatient service, it functions much like an inpatient acute-care setting. APPs evaluate patients presenting with obstetric concerns, determine appropriate treatment and disposition, and coordinate admissions when indicated.

The OB Triage Team Lead will provide clinical leadership and direct supervision for a team of approximately 5 8 APPs, while continuing to provide hands-on patient care. This individual will play an integral role in coordinating daily operations, developing schedules, supporting team members, and partnering with physicians, residents, nursing, MFM, and Labor & Delivery leadership to ensure high-quality, efficient patient care.

OB Triage offers an exceptional environment for an APP who enjoys clinical complexity, collaboration, and leadership. The team benefits from strong support from both the OB resident and attending physician teams, creating an environment that promotes learning, collaboration, and professional growth.

With strong collaboration from resident and attending teams and an environment that supports ongoing learning, this is an outstanding opportunity for an experienced APP looking to make a greater impact through clinical leadership, mentorship, and patient-centered care.

Key Highlights:

  • Provide direct clinical care to patients presenting to OB Triage, including assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and appropriate disposition or admission.
  • Provide day-to-day leadership and supervision for approximately 5 8 APPs.
  • Develop and maintain the daily APP staffing schedule to ensure appropriate coverage.
  • Respond to team call-outs and work collaboratively to identify and fill staffing gaps.
  • Communicate with resident and attending teams regarding triage staffing and operational needs.

  • Assist with maintaining credentials and clinical privileges for APP team members.
  • Organize and lead regular APP team meetings.
  • Participate in financial and operational discussions related to the triage service.
  • Participate in safety reviews, incident reporting, quality improvement, and process improvement initiatives.
  • Develop and implement clinical workflows, standards, and algorithms that promote consistent, high-quality patient care.
  • Work collaboratively with Compliance and Coding to support appropriate APP billing practices and optimization.
  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, patient flow, communication, and the overall triage experience.
  • Maintain effective communication among APPs, physicians, residents, nurses, nurse managers, educators, and other members of the care team.
  • Participate in departmental and service-line meetings and initiatives.
  • Serve as a clinical resource and mentor for APP team members.
  • Provide other related clinical and leadership responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in nursing or a master's degree in a healthcare-related field, including Physician Assistant education.
