Nursing Director – Med Surge

Position Overview

Wheeler Staffing Partners is seeking an experienced Nursing Director
- Med/Surge for our healthcare client. This is an excellent opportunity for a results-driven nursing leader to make a meaningful impact on patients, caregivers, and the community while helping drive exceptional patient outcomes and operational performance. This position provides leadership and support to the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO), who is responsible for nursing and other designated patient care functions and services throughout the hospital organization.

The Nursing Director
- Med/Surge will assist in assessing, planning, coordinating, implementing, and evaluating nursing practice across multiple units. This position assumes 24/7 responsibility for assigned areas and works closely with the CNO to ensure high-quality, safe, and appropriate nursing care, clinical staff competency, and effective resource management. This position is eligible for up to a $20,000 Sign-On Bonus.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide leadership and support to the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) for nursing and other designated patient care functions and services within the hospital.
  • Assist in assessing, planning, coordinating, implementing, and evaluating nursing practice across multiple units.
  • Assume 24/7 responsibility and accountability for assigned nursing areas.
  • Support the CNO in ensuring high-quality, safe, and appropriate nursing care.
  • Promote and maintain clinical competency among nursing and patient care staff.
  • Support appropriate staffing and resource management related to patient care.
  • Provide leadership that promotes clinical excellence, operational effectiveness, and positive patient outcomes.
  • Demonstrate highly effective interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Serve as a professional role model and advocate for the nursing profession.
  • Collaborate with hospital leadership, physicians, nursing teams, and other departments to support organizational and patient care objectives.
  • Perform other related duties as required.
Qualifications
  • Required Education Associate degree from an accredited nursing school with a bachelor's degree in a healthcare-related field, or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
  • Required Experience Minimum of 2 years of progressive management experience in a hospital environment as a manager, full-time charge nurse, or related leadership position.
  • Demonstrated leadership and hospital operational capabilities.
  • Licensure & Certification Active and current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice. Must be currently licensed, certified, or registered to practice the profession as required by applicable law, regulation, and client policy.
  • Current CPR certification.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master of Science in Nursing (MSN), OR Master's degree in a healthcare-related field.
