Responsibilities
- Assess, plan, organize, implement, and evaluate staff development and educational activities
- Address identified or anticipated learner needs for assigned areas
- Assure quality of patient care and clinical practice progression through assessment, coaching, and nursing staff development
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary care team
- Communicate, educate, and monitor changes to clinical practice and expectations
- Review documentation, provide additional staff support, and report ongoing non-compliance to management
- Collaborate with leadership on strategic planning, implementation, evaluation, and revision of systems supporting nursing staff competence, autonomy, and accountability
- Define nursing standards, practices, and educational needs
- Participate in interview panels, orientation, annual regulatory requirements, and clinical competency requirements
- Report unprofessional or unsafe practices to the Nurse Manager
- Assist the Manager or designee with hospital policy, regulatory, quality assurance, safety, and infection control compliance
- Promote a culture of safety
- Report on entered Safety Intelligence Reports
- Conduct initial review and investigation of safety reports and immediately elevate serious reportable events to the Nurse Manager
- Contribute to performance evaluations and staff scheduling in collaboration with the Director
- Bachelor’s degree in Nursing, Education, or related healthcare field
- Active RN license in the State of Massachusetts
- BLS Certification
- ACLS Certification
- At least 3 years of clinical nursing experience in an ICU
- At least 1 year of experience in a clinical preceptor and/or charge nurse role
- Demonstrated leadership experience
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation computer software
- Frequent use of computer, keyboard, printer, teaching manikins, simulators, LCD projectors, and printed materials
- Four 9-hour shifts and working every 5th Saturday
- Master’s degree in nursing, Education, or related healthcare field (Preferred)
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in teaching (highly desired)
- Process improvement experience (Preferred)
Demonstrates expertise in nursing staff development, clinical practice evaluation, and regulatory compliance, with a strong focus on quality patient care and safety. Proficient in leadership, communication, and collaboration within interdisciplinary teams to enhance nursing competence and accountability.
