The Quality Supervisor is responsible for leading and managing a team of inspectors in a manufacturing environment. This role ensures that inspection activities are prioritized, executed efficiently, and aligned with production requirements while maintaining compliance with applicable quality standards, customer requirements, and regulatory obligations. The position also supports continuous improvement initiatives, workforce development, and operational excellence programs.
Key Responsibilities- Lead and supervise a team of quality inspectors.
- Establish and maintain inspection prioritization methods and throughput targets in coordination with production and operations teams.
- Provide inspection and quality status updates during daily operational meetings.
- Monitor and audit inspection tracking systems to ensure accurate work progress reporting and documentation.
- Review and approve employee timekeeping records.
- Manage and report departmental performance metrics and support visual management systems.
- Partner with operations and quality teams to reduce customer-reported quality issues and improve product quality performance.
- Lead workplace organization and continuous improvement initiatives within inspection areas.
- Monitor, manage, and reduce inspection backlogs across various inspection activities, including incoming, in-process, and final inspections.
- Balance staffing resources to meet changing workload demands and coordinate employee cross-training and certification efforts.
- Schedule and coordinate customer, regulatory, or third-party witness inspections as required.
- Ensure inspection processes comply with applicable quality standards, specifications, and contractual requirements.
- Support initiatives to improve quality, efficiency, compliance, and customer satisfaction.
- Understanding of quality requirements associated with regulated or highly specified manufacturing environments.
- Familiarity with contractual, technical, and regulatory requirements as they relate to production and inspection activities.
- Knowledge of inspection processes, non-destructive testing (NDT), quality management systems, and technical documentation.
- Strong leadership capabilities, strategic thinking skills, and commitment to ethical business practices.
- Demonstrated ability to manage change, resolve conflicts, and lead teams effectively.
- Experience with metrology equipment and dimensional inspection tools, including coordinate measuring systems and advanced measurement technologies.
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with production, engineering, quality, and customer stakeholders.
- Experience in a quality leadership or supervisory role within a manufacturing, industrial, or production environment.
- Previous experience leading inspection personnel and managing quality-related activities.
- Experience supporting quality audits, certification programs, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education, training, and relevant experience preferred.
