Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and talented Scientist to join our Dermatology team in Discovery Research Immunology located in Worcester, MA. The successful candidate will play a key role in executing in vitro and ex vivo experiments to elucidate the activity and mechanism of action of novel biotherapeutics and small molecules using mammalian cell lines and primary human cells and/or tissues.

Responsibilities include experimental planning and execution, comprehensive data analysis and presentation, and detailed documentation to support multiple programs across our dermatology portfolio.

The successful candidate will generate, evaluate, interpret, and share robust, reproducible datasets from in vitro/ex vivo experiments to explore key biological questions related to atopic dermatitis and other dermatological diseases. They will demonstrate strong laboratory skills, collaborate effectively within cross‑functional teams, and leverage both scientific theory and hands‑on expertise to advance research projects. This is a lab‑based position and requires full‑time on‑site presence in our Worcester location.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop, optimize, and execute immunological assays using primary human cells, human ex‑vivo tissues, and/or cell lines to evaluate drug potency and mechanisms of action.
  • Isolate primary immune cells from biofluids and maintain cultures of both primary cells and immortalized cell lines.
  • Develop new protocols and/or adapt established experimental protocols as needed, including reviewing relevant literature to inform experimental design and effectively troubleshoot when required.
  • Perform experiments, analyze and interpret quantitative data, and present findings to project teams through oral and written reports and presentations.
  • Organize and accurately document experimental records in accordance with scientific best practices.
  • Query and understand target biology including effective use of primary literature and patents (when applicable).
  • Manage lab equipment and coordinate supply inventories to support efficient laboratory function.
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional partners to support and advance pipeline project goals within the Immunology group.
  • Understand and adhere to corporate standards regarding code of conduct, safety, appropriate handling of materials, controlled drug and radioactive compounds, and GxP compliance where applicable.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree or Master’s degree in Biology, Immunology, Cell biology, or in a related discipline with experience in immunology research, with 5+ (BS) or 2+ (MS) years of job‑related experience.
  • Strong experience in aseptic tissue culture techniques involving immune cell isolation and culturing, and mammalian cell lines culturing and maintenance is required.
  • Experience with immune cell profiling by flow cytometry and analysis software (Flow Jo) is required.
  • Experience with protein detection methods (ELISA and/or MSD) is required.
  • Experience with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel, and graphing programs.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail and excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Experience analyzing data and presenting work in team meetings.
  • Capable of working independently as well as collaboratively in a matrixed environment to support cross‑functional teams.
