Description:
We are seeking a Scientist to support biologic drug product development through advanced analytical characterization of therapeutic biologic molecules. This role focuses on mass spectrometry and chromatography-based analysis to assess critical quality attributes and molecular characteristics of biologic candidates. The successful candidate will work in a collaborative laboratory environment, generate high-quality analytical data, and contribute to the advancement of biologic development programs.
This position offers the opportunity to apply cutting edge analytical techniques while supporting research and development initiatives.
Must Haves:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Biochemistry, Biology, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or a related scientific discipline.
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience with a Bachelor's degree or 2 years of relevant experience with a Master's degree.
- Hands on experience with protein mass spectrometry including subunit analysis, peptide mapping, and disulfide mapping.
- Strong experience with LCMS based characterization of biologic molecules.
- Experience with liquid chromatography methods used for biologic protein characterization.
- Proficiency in Excel and Graph Pad for scientific data analysis.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
- Perform LCMS based characterization of therapeutic biologic molecules and evaluate post translational modifications.
- Conduct analyses using size exclusion chromatography, ion exchange chromatography, and reverse phase chromatography techniques.
- Design, execute, and document laboratory experiments with attention to quality and accuracy.
- Analyze experimental data and prepare reports and presentations for scientific stakeholders.
- Maintain electronic laboratory notebooks and ensure accurate scientific documentation.
- Support operation, maintenance, and calibration of laboratory instruments.
- Collaborate with cross functional research and development teams to achieve project goals.
- Follow laboratory safety procedures and documentation compliance standards.
- PhD in a relevant scientific discipline.
- Experience with liquid handling robotic systems and workflow automation.
- Experience supporting biologic drug development and CMC activities.
- Demonstrated record of scientific innovation, publications, or technical achievements.
- Strong problem solving and experimental troubleshooting skills.
- This is a hands-on bench scientist role focused on biologics analytical characterization; candidates should be comfortable performing routine laboratory testing and data analysis.
- Strong preference for candidates with biologics industry experience, particularly supporting development-stage biologics programs rather than academic research environments.
- LC-MS experience is a critical requirement, including peptide mapping, subunit analysis, disulfide mapping, and post-translational modification (PTM) characterization.
- SEC is the most heavily utilized chromatography technique, with additional experience in IEX and RP-HPLC strongly preferred.
- Experience generating analytical characterization reports/packages and communicating results to downstream stakeholders (ARD, PRD, CMC, or development teams) is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with Waters Empower, Protein Metrics, Graph Pad, and Excel is preferred for data processing, analysis, and reporting activities.
- Potential red flags include candidates with only small molecule experience, upstream/process development backgrounds, protein purification-only experience, or primarily academic experience…
