Seeking an innovative, self‑motivated data scientist passionate about leveraging AI/ML in computational protein design. Join Abb Vie’s Discovery Biotherapeutics team as a Senior Scientist to work on groundbreaking technologies for discovering and developing novel biotherapeutics.

About the Role

In this pivotal role you will apply AI/ML and computational protein design expertise to drive the development of cutting‑edge biotherapeutics, using leading modeling tools and collaborating with a cross‑functional team focused on protein production and characterization.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement state‑of‑the‑art AI/ML methodologies for computational protein design, including fine‑tuning protein language models and generative protein design.
• Stay current with advancements in NLP, ML, and generative AI to build novel tools that enhance therapeutic discovery and development.
• Collaborate with internal experts to optimize computational discovery infrastructure, providing both individual and team‑based innovative solutions.
• Communicate complex scientific ideas effectively to both technical and non‑technical audiences, fostering collaboration across multidisciplinary teams.

• BS, MS, or PhD in Chemistry, Computer Science, Machine Learning, Cheminformatics, Chemical Engineering, or related fields with 10–12+ years (BS), 8–10+ years (MS), or 0–4+ years (PhD) of experience.
• Proven track record in developing machine learning models for chemical and biological data, including AI/ML‑enabled molecular generation and affinity prediction.
• Proficiency in programming languages such as Python and experience with cloud computing capabilities.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with demonstrated creativity and the ability to contribute individually and collaboratively.
• Experience modeling protein sequence, structure, and function and a history of related scientific publications.
• Versatile communication skills to explain complex ideas to non‑specialists and a commitment to continuous improvement and innovation.

Position will be hired based on level of experience – Senior Scientist I or Senior Scientist II.

• The compensation range described below is the possible base pay range the Company believes in good faith it will pay for this role at the time of posting. Individual compensation may vary and be modified in the future.
