Position: Assistant Dispensary Manager/ Lead Budtender For a Solex Client Located in Worcester County

Expected Hours

40 hours per week (flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed)

Position Summary

The Assistant Dispensary Manager / Lead Budtender serves as a key member of the retail leadership team, combining hands‑on customer service responsibilities with supervisory and operational support. This role is responsible for delivering an exceptional customer experience, supporting daily store operations, ensuring compliance with Massachusetts cannabis regulations, assisting with staff development, and helping drive sales and business growth. The ideal candidate is a customer‑focused leader who thrives in a fast‑paced retail environment and is passionate about cannabis education and hospitality.

Primary

Responsibilities Leadership & Team Support
  • Support the General Manager in overseeing daily dispensary operations.
  • Assist with training, coaching, and mentoring staff to deliver exceptional customer service and maintain compliance standards.
  • Serve as a shift leader and point of contact during assigned shifts.
  • Help foster a positive, inclusive, and team‑oriented work environment.
  • Assist with employee engagement initiatives and team‑building activities.
  • Help resolve customer concerns and employee issues in a professional and timely manner.
Customer Service & Sales
  • Deliver a world‑class customer experience through product knowledge, hospitality, and personalized recommendations.
  • Build strong customer relationships that encourage repeat business and customer loyalty.
  • Educate customers on products, consumption methods, and cannabis regulations.
  • Proactively answer customer questions and provide accurate product information.
  • Support sales goals through effective customer engagement and product recommendations.
Operations & Compliance
  • Ensure compliance with all state regulations, company policies, and standard operating procedures.
  • Execute dispensary opening and closing procedures.
  • Accurately process customer transactions using the Point‑of‑Sale (POS) system.
  • Handle cash management responsibilities, including drawer balancing and cash reconciliation.
  • Assist with inventory management, cycle counts, product receiving, and vendor deliveries.
  • Maintain visual merchandising standards and ensure the dispensary remains clean, organized, and customer‑ready.
  • Support security, safety, and loss prevention initiatives.
  • Assist with operational reporting, data tracking, and process improvement initiatives.
Inventory & Administrative Support
  • Assist with inventory audits and product tracking systems.
  • Monitor product levels and communicate inventory needs to management.
  • Support scheduling efforts and staffing coverage as directed by the General Manager.
  • Assist with maintaining accurate records and required compliance documentation.
  • Support outreach, customer engagement, delivery acceptance, and other operational functions as needed.
Qualifications Required
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum 2 years of retail experience, preferably within a cannabis dispensary environment.
  • Previous leadership, key‑holder, shift lead, or supervisory experience preferred.
  • Strong customer service and sales skills.
  • Experience working in a fast‑paced retail environment.
  • Ability to follow and enforce strict compliance requirements and company SOPs.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Ability to consistently meet productivity and performance expectations.
  • Professional, respectful, and positive attitude.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to move, carry, and lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to stand, walk, and remain on your feet for extended periods.
  • Ability to perform repetitive tasks while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Cannabis industry experience.
  • Experience with POS, inventory management, and retail software systems.
  • Knowledge of Massachusetts cannabis regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Demonstrated leadership and team development skills.
  • Strong problem‑solving and conflict‑resolution abilities.
