Major Responsibilities:
Required:
- High School diploma
Preferred:
- 6-12 months of related office/clerical/administrative support experience
Required:
- Ability to operate personal computers, report terminals, or computer-based equipment for data entry/retrieval and checking.
- Basic use of word processing programs.
- Excellent telephone communications/customer relation skills.
- Flexibility to be temporarily re‑assigned to any other site in the system.
- High degree of accuracy and alertness in dispatching police personnel; ability to maintain calm demeanor and composure in crisis situations.
- Preference given to those with minimum one year paid or verifiable full time equivalent volunteer experience involving automated equipment as a dispatcher in a police or fire department, EMS or ambulance agency.
Unless certification, licensure or registration is required, an equivalent combination of education and experience which provides proficiency in the areas of responsibility listed in this description may be substituted for the above requirements.
