Mobile Diesel Technician Level II

Shift: Saturday – Wednesday. Cox Fleet keeps your fleet moving. • Perform scheduled preventative maintenance (PM), DOT inspections, and follow‑up repairs on light, medium, and heavy‑duty vehicles in a mobile or field environment.
• Make minor adjustments and repairs on truck equipment, including electrical, brake, cooling, starter/alternator, fan clutch, engine electronics, diesel steering, engines (gas and diesel), transmissions (manual and automatic), clutches, and differentials.
• Diagnose, adjust, and repair vehicle equipment, using test instruments such as handheld computers and pressure gauges.
• Road‑test vehicles to diagnose malfunctions and ensure proper operation.
• Identify problems, evaluate alternatives, and use sound judgment to determine solutions.
• Manage parts inventory, perform periodic reconciliation, and maintain company‑issued service vehicle with safety checks and pre/post‑trip inspections.
• Communicate effectively with clients to assess needs, provide assistance, and resolve issues.
• Prioritize concurrent tasks and manage own daily schedule.
• Use hand tools, precision instruments, diesel tools, welding equipment, lifts, and jacks.
• Document work on Repair Orders (RO) and upload pictures using the company‑issued iOS device and the TRAIT application.
• Complete DOT forms and other documentation in a timely manner.
• Maintain a high level of productivity and meet or exceed standard repair times.
• Obtain parts from approved local and national vendors as needed.
• Communicate with management and support teams via email or phone to obtain approvals, purchase order numbers, and discuss RO findings.
• Perform all work in compliance with safety, health, environmental policies, OSHA, EPA, and DOT regulations.

• High School Diploma or GED and 3 years’ experience in a related field (or an equivalent combination such as a degree or certification beyond HS and 5 years’ experience).
• Possess a set of hand tools necessary for the role.
• Obtain Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) T8 (PMI) certification within 18 months.
• Pass a DOT‑regulated pre‑employment background screening and DOT physical (or provide a DOT medical card with at least four months validity).
• Be at least 21 years old and hold a valid state driver’s license with the ability to maintain a Driver Qualification File.
• Safety‑trained drivers required.

• Required within 18 months: ASE T8 (PMI)
• Preferred: ASE T3 (Drivetrain), ASE T4 (Brakes), ASE T5 (Suspension), ASE T6 (Electrical and Electronic Systems), ASE T7 (HVAC), ASE 608/609

• Apply new information to solve problems and make decisions.
• Perform moderate heavy‑labor tasks, including lifting, bending, climbing, standing, and walking long periods.
• Communicate clearly and organize information succinctly for individuals and groups.
• Choose appropriate tools and equipment for tasks.
• Assess object distance accurately.
• Use logic and reasoning to evaluate solutions, conclusions, or approaches.

Hourly pay range: $29.42 – $44.13 per hour, with potential for additional commission or incentive programs based on performance.
