Position: Mobile Diesel Mechanic II Sat - Wed $3000 New Hire Bonus

Overview

Cox Fleet is a leading provider of on‑site mobile maintenance and repair services for light, medium, and heavy‑duty trucks and trailers across the United States. The company operates more than 50 nationwide service centers and offers scheduled and unscheduled fleet services through a 24/7 call center and mobile teams.

Position

Mobile Diesel Technician Level II

Shift: Saturday – Wednesday
Bonus: $3,000 New Hire Bonus (50% after 30 days and 50% after 180 days)

Responsibilities
  • Perform scheduled preventative maintenance (PM), DOT inspections and follow‑up repairs on light, medium and heavy‑duty vehicles in a mobile/field environment.
  • Conduct minor adjustments and repairs on truck equipment—including electrical, braking, cooling, steering, engines (gas and diesel), transmissions, clutches, and differentials.
  • Diagnose, adjust and repair complex electrical, hydraulic, electronic and mechanical systems.
  • Use test instruments such as handheld computers and pressure gauges to inspect, test and identify malfunctions.
  • Road‑test vehicles to confirm proper operation after repairs.
  • Act independently to manage parts inventory, reconcile supplies, and operate, maintain and pre/post‑trip inspect company‑issued service trucks.
  • Document work performed, parts used and findings on Repair Orders (RO) using the company iOS device and TRAIT application.
  • Complete DOT forms and all required documentation accurately and timely.
  • Adhere to safety, health and environmental policies, OSHA, EPA and DOT regulations.
  • Maintain a high level of productivity and meet standard repair time expectations.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED plus 3 years of related experience (or an equivalent combination such as a degree or certificate plus 5 years of experience).
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to obtain and maintain a Driver Qualification File.
  • Safe driving record; valid DOT medical card with more than four months remaining, or completion of a DOT physical.
  • Age 21 or older.
  • Ready to use a set of hand tools required for the position.
  • Must obtain ASE T8 (PMI) certification within 18 months of hire.
  • Compliance with District Transportation Administration (Use the "Apply for this Job" box below). Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) pre‑employment background screening and physical requirements.
Certifications
  • Required:

    ASE T8 (PMI) within 18 months
  • Preferred: ASE T3 (Drivetrain), T4 (Brakes), T5 (Suspension), T6 (Electrical & Electronic Systems), T7 (HVAC), 608/609

  • Proficient with diagnosing and repairing truck electrical, hydraulic, electronic, and mechanical systems.
  • Ability to lift, bend, climb and stand for long periods; perform moderate heavy labor.
  • Strong communication: provides succinct, organized information and engages effectively in two‑way communication.
  • Judgment: determines appropriate tools and equipment and evaluates alternative solutions.
  • Physical: endures repeated tasks without fatigue over extended periods.
