Position: Certified Field Performance Technician

Field Performance Technician 3

Performs advanced troubleshooting and complex service diagnosis, and trains and develops other field team members.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Organize, lead, and maintain the warranty and service schedule.
  • Work with the Electrical Foreman, Construction Supervisor, and Branch Manager to allocate labor resources to service and warranty projects.
  • Assist with training and development for Field Service Technicians and Field Communications Technicians.
  • Lead regular meetings to align and train the local field service team on best practices.
  • Support the onboarding and training of new members of the field performance team.
  • Regularly exceed defined goals for field performance key performance indicators, including turnaround time, experience rating, and average dispatches completed.
  • Assist with other tasks such as inspections and site audits when assigned.
  • Must possess a valid Journeyman License/Electrician Certification or equivalent per local and state requirements (e.g., wireman license).
Education and Experience

3+ years of previous field construction experience required with at least 1 year of experience as a service technician in the solar industry. High School diploma is required. PV design or PV electrical experience is preferred.

License and Certification Requirements

Valid state or local Electrical Journeyman license is required.

  • Knowledge of the NEC and applicable codes and standards.

  • Strong computer skills.
  • Electrical/PV installation knowledge: working knowledge of current NEC codes, ability to interpret single line drawings and PV systems from roof to meter.
  • Understanding of electrical principles related to solar interconnection/tie‑in and code, and how PV systems operate.
  • Understanding of interconnection activities and basic construction principles.
  • Adheres to company safety policies and procedures, identifies and reports safety hazards, and encourages safe work practices.
  • Ability to build rapport, relationships, and loyalty with external and internal customers and coworkers.
  • Results‑driven: ability to meet deadlines and key metrics, work independently, and drive results in a fast‑paced, team‑based environment.
  • Solid logical decision‑making and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to problem‑solve in a timely and effective manner.
  • Demonstrates good judgment, takes ownership of issues, escalates problems appropriately, and follows up with the customer.
Physical Demands

Ability to transport materials and equipment up to 50 pounds frequently and up to 100 pounds with assistance; work on rooftops with various angles and surfaces requiring frequent bending, twisting, squatting, climbing, kneeling, crawling, and balance; climb ladders; work in outdoor weather conditions (noise, heat, cold, wet, humidity); use fine motor skills for hand functions; work within safe equipment ranges such as ladders, fall protection harnesses, and other PPE;

work on roofs and at heights; work in sun or low‑light conditions; work on roofs without damage; distinguish colors; work in confined spaces such as attics, basements, and crawl spaces; hear verbal commands and warnings; use chemicals with appropriate protection.
