Position OverviewThe primary objective of the SAFEPLAN Court Advocate (Floater) is to assist survivors of domestic violence, sexual violence, and stalking who are seeking help from the judicial system primarily within the Worcester area New Hope courthouses. These courthouses include
E. Brookfield, Dudley, Uxbridge, Westborough, and Milford District Courts.
The SAFEPLAN Advocate provides safety planning, information about the law, and referral services to survivors. This role requires a compassionate and knowledgeable individual who can support survivors through the complexities of the court system while promoting safety and empowerment.
Key Responsibilities- Assist survivors of domestic violence, sexual violence, and stalking in navigating the judicial system within the designated courthouses.
- Provide individualized safety planning tailored to each survivor’s unique circumstances.
- Offer clear and accurate information about relevant laws and court procedures.
- Connect survivors with appropriate referral services and community resources.
- Serve as a liaison between survivors and court personnel to facilitate access to justice and support.
- Maintain confidentiality and uphold the dignity and rights of all survivors.
- Travel as needed to cover multiple courthouse locations within Worcester County.
- Document interactions and maintain accurate records in accordance with agency policies.
- Experience working with survivors of domestic violence, sexual violence, and stalking preferred.
- Knowledge of the judicial system and court processes related to protective orders and related legal remedies.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to provide empathetic support.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Flexibility to travel between multiple courthouse locations within Worcester County.
