General Statement of Duties:
Under the leadership of the Gambling Prevention Program Manager,the Health Ambassador/Promoter will be trained to empower theirpeers through education and connections to health and fitness and resources in English and Spanish. Ambassadors will use theirinsights and knowledge of cultural norms to provide relevant health information and education to help youth work through the barriersthey face when addressing complex health issues, high risk behaviors, navigating the health care system, and gaining access to affordable fresh and nutritious foods.
Responsibilities:
Gather information and provide education in the community, as outlined in the scope and contract.Support the alignment of the work with what exists in the community.Provide the community with education on existing services.Promote wellness programs for Latino and other marginalizedfamilies by participating in communication plans as outlined in thescope of service and contract.Meet weekly with the Administrators and program team to coordinate staffing, participant needs and logistics. Participate in biweekly staff meetings.Participate in required training, workshops, conferences orother aspects of professional development including fundersponsored events.Other duties as assigned, including supporting other staff and representing the organization upon assignments.In person position with field activities.Requirements:
Required Qualifications:Ability to communicate effectively to diverse audiences, both inwriting and verbally.Strong work ethic and commitment to positive youthdevelopment.Success in prioritizing and meeting multiple demands and deadlines.Strong organizational skills, including the ability to work collaboratively, manage own work and time, and be accountable for performance.Alignment and agreement with the vision, mission, and values ofthe University.Ability to work some evenings and weekends.Preferred Qualifications:High School Diploma and at least 2 years of experience workingon social and/or health-related issues with people from diversecultural and economic backgrounds.A bachelors degree in a health-related career would be a plus,especially for growth opportunities.Reliable access to transportation.Bilingual (Spanish and English).Additional Information:
